Scripture Reading: “Now it came to pass… that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God… The word of the Lord came expressly unto Ezekiel… and the hand of the Lord was there upon him… And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the Spirit entered into me when He spoke unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spoke unto me… And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel… and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God… And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear… shall know that there hath been a prophet among them… be not afraid of them” (Excerpted from Ezekiel 1:1a,c, 3a,c, 2:1, 2, 3a, 4c, 5, 6a).
Commentary: Believe it or not, it does come to pass! It happens! It can happen now! As you read God’s Word prayerfully, it is as if the heavens open and you see a vision of God, a better understanding of God.
The Word of the Lord can come personally, expressly to you! The Word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel and the hand of the Lord was upon him. God told him that He would speak to him. He heard what God said to him, that He was sending him to the Israelites and to tell them, “Thus says the Lord God!” And whether they listen or not, they will at least know they have had a prophet among them. Then God warned him, “Be not afraid of them!”
Ponder on that! Read the Bible prayerfully, letting the Word of God come personally to you!
Prayer: Father, You are the same yesterday, today and forever. As I read Your Word, may it come to pass, may it happen that I may have a vision of You, a better understanding of You.
May Your Word come personally to me, expressly to me. May Your Hand be upon me.
As I read Your Word, may Your indwelling Holy Spirit fill me to overflowing.
Then, filled with the Holy Spirit, send me to tell others about You.
Even if they don’t want to listen, You will eventually make them know that I have spoken to them in Your behalf!
Thank You for admonishing me not to fear them.
Shall I start telling all my neighbors about You? All right, I will!
Thank You, Heavenly Father!
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
