“For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in Him was yea. For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us” (2 Corinthians 1:19,20).
The Lord Jesus Christ always does exactly what He says. There are a few things that the Omnipotent God who can do anything, cannot do. He cannot deny He exists. He cannot lie. He cannot refuse to save you if you repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
Because He cannot lie, all the promises of God in Him are yes! Notice that only in Him all the promises of God are yes. Not in you, but in Him. But if you abide in Him and He in you, if His words abide in you, then in you also all the promises of God are yes! God is most positive! Satan is the negative one.
How many promises has God given us? One man has counted 7,837. Another scholar discovered 32,000! Who is right? You count them!
If you figure on the lowest estimate, if you talk to God about only one of His promises every day, it will take you 22 years to talk to the Lord about each one of His promises!
All the promises of God are yes and Amen in Him! Now that is a double positive affirmation! Whenever our Lord wanted to emphasize a statement, He preceded it with a double positive affirmation, “Verily, verily I say unto you…” He has a reason for doing that. He wants you to be absolutely persuaded of the inerrant, positive, fundamental, unchangeable, 100% guaranteed fact that not some, not a few, but all the promises of God in Him are yes and Amen. They are viable, functional, operative, valid, true, solid, and reliable. You can bank upon their veracity. They are true as gold; even truer than gold that perishes. All of them are operational in Him. Apart from Him, none work!
All the promises of God are to the glory of God! All of them! They are not to inflate your ego, bolster your pride and puff your self up, not to pamper your lusts, not to enable you to strut around like a peacock, shimmering your gorgeous feathers to dazzle your admirers, distracting them from worshipping and glorifying God alone. All of God’s promises will bring glory to God. Therefore, if you seek His promises, find them, and talk to the Lord about them, He can cause them to become an experience with God in your life that will turn out to be to the glory of God!
All the promises of God are by us! Yes, it is through Christians that God’s promises become realities, experiences of God, testimonies of His answering prayer. All of the promises in Holy Writ are for us, are to the glory of God, and are made reality by us! That is God’s will. They are not for angels, archangels, cherubim, seraphim or little green creatures in some distant galaxy; they are for us and they become viable, functional, and operational by us. We have been incredibly endowed; we are more than spiritual super billionaires. We could write spiritual checks for billions, yet the average faith of the typical Christian barely motivates him to occasionally write a check for two cents worth of spiritual blessings! Remember! All the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him amen, to the glory of God by us.
Generous Heavenly Father, how abundantly You have showered upon us oceans of infinite blessings, each one of them full of the infinite God Himself! Yet how little I dare to ask!
Please enlarge my faith. Since faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, please lead me to Your promises. Talk to me about them as I read them. I will talk to You about them as I pray. As You and I fellowship about them, lead me in what I should ask of You.
I am so encouraged that not a few, but all of Your promises are valid and workable. I am so glad that in You, Lord Jesus, all the Heavenly Father’s promises are not only yes, but yes and amen!
I am thrilled that all Your promises are for Your glory! I am delighted that it has pleased You to be glorified by us, Your redeemed ones, washed by the blood of the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. Thank You, thank You!
I am now looking forward with great expectation to the best spiritual adventures of my life, as You personally will lead me into Your promises, so that by this little me, this unworthy me, You, my dear Lord, will be increasingly glorified.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
