Book: The Harbinger by Jonathan Cahn

Sometime in 2012 I came across The Harbinger and felt prompted to read it. I do not remember it being recommended to me. I also mentioned it to a close christian friend. They had read it and recommended it as a book that they had a positive sense about that it was something the Lord wanted to be shared with American christians.

For me, it was a very fast read because I was astounded to find that a good number of items that I had researched in 2001 and 2002 related to the September 11th attacks. Jonathan Cahn covered a number of subjects that I had not considered, but I was still amazed to find that someone else had looked at the events of September 11th, 2001 the same way I had.

In summary, The Harbinger clarified and confirmed my previous tentative conclusion. Something went wrong in the foundation of the United States government in 1789 from the Lord’s point of view.

Since then, I have come to understand that Jonathan Cahn was acting as a witness for God at a national level for America. Many people read, heard and had an understanding from God that what Jonathan shared was significantly true.

The author says that The Harbinger is a fictional story which is nevertheless concerned with a real-life connection: a prophecy about ancient Israel that was eventually fulfilled in the eighth century BC when Israel was destroyed, and certain events and facts related to the 9/11 terror attacks against the U.S. in 2001. Cahn calls these events and facts “harbingers,” and argues that they show a connection between ancient Israel’s destruction and a possible coming destruction of the present-day United States. He also says that ancient Israel received a warning before being destroyed, and that the 9/11 harbingers form a similar warning from God to America.

Note about Cahn: After The Harbinger I checked in periodically on what Johnathan Cahn was doing. I did not have agreement with a number of things that he shared later on. I did not have strong disagreement with everything, but the sense I had about The Harbinger was that it was more clearly from the Lord being spoken by Cahn. Much more recently, there is one additional book (The Harbinger II) by Cahn that I have had a good sense about and feel it is also from the Lord shared through Cahn. According to 1 Thessalonians 5, I have learned to test everything and keep that which is good. I do not believe that everything I share is perfectly on target, so I do not expect it of others either.
