“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (1 John 5:9-15).
If you are not born again or not sure of your salvation, the above Scripture reading is very clear. If you are a Christian, you have the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. More than that, you can know that you have the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior.
We tend to believe most of what we hear in the news or see in our courts of justice. Some of it may not be true. But what God tells you in the Bible is true. You can fully believe what God declares.
God tells you that Jesus is His Son and that He has given you eternal life in His Son.
If you have Him, you have eternal life. If you don’t have Him, you don’t have eternal life.
God had this written for you in the Bible so that if you believe in the Son of God as your Savior and Lord, you not only have eternal life, you can know you have it! You can be absolutely sure!
Now God will listen to you, whenever you ask Him for anything in line with His will. He is listening to your requests, so you can be sure that He will answer you.
Talk to God about this. Read the above Scripture and talk it over with God Himself. He is right there, wherever you are. You might say to Him something like this,
“God, I have sinned much. I deserve to be thrown into hell forever. I repent. I long to be free from my sins. Save me, Lord Jesus!
I believe in You as my Lord and Savior.
I believe You shed Your Blood to take away my sins, that You suffered what I deserve to suffer, that You died for me and I was executed in You, my substitute.
I believe You resurrected to give me a new life, even eternal life.
Not only do I have You, Lord Jesus, as my eternal life, but I also know that I have You. I know I am asking in line with Your will, because You desire that all men should repent and be saved. Therefore, I know that You have heard my request and, because Your Word says so, I am sure that You will answer me now.
Thank You, Lord Jesus. I now receive You as my Lord and Savior. Welcome into me! Be my life. You now have me and I now have You. I even know that I have You, Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.”
And that, my dear reader, is…
